I never think much of weird things that happen to me. I just accept them and move on. But reading the Wikipedia entry on Lyme Disease, I’m starting to realize that these things aren’t, well, normal. If this stuff goes away after the Lyme Disease goes away… that would be kind of amazing.

1) Numbness, and tingling in the hands or feet,
2) Difficulties with concentration and short-term memory,
3) Profound fatigue,
4) May cause frank psychosis, which has been mis-diagnosed as bipolar disorder,
5) Derealization syndrome, where the person begins to feel detached from themselves or from reality,
6) Heart palpitations,
7) Severe headaches, neck stiffness, and sensitivity to light.

I’m going to be taking pills for 13 months that will supposedly get rid of the Lyme Disease completely. That’d be awesome. I hate taking pills, but this is a life-or-death condition

I’m still in shock, a lot. It’s like… I never ever expected this. Ever. I stayed up all night just browsing the internet and staring into nothing. I’m pretty freaked out. I don’t want to be like this, I miss being normal and healthy. I don’t remember what it’s like to not be tired. I’m ALWAYS tired, even if I say I’m not. This test was just to rule out the possibility, I thought. I don’t know what to do.

You can also pass it on to your children through the placenta. Oh great.

SO I went to the doctor today because my blood work was in (they took like 6 vials last time I was there

Anyways, my doctor was talking things over with my dad and me… I had gotten allergy tests done, estrogen tests, potassium tests, and Lyme disease tests. So I have Lyme Disease.

I don’t even remember being bit.

I don’t want to freak out because I don’t want my dad to freak out. I was on the edge of crying right there but I looked at him and saw he was too. I have to be strong for both of us and it’s dumb but it’s true.

Background story:
I got mono in January/February of 2008. I was sick for 5 weeks and had to drop out of school and go to a charter school because it only met for 4 hours a day and that was about how long I could stay awake. I had a sleepy fun summer which included me getting sick a few times on account of my low immune system. Fast forward to College… I started taking Valtrex because I had what my doctor diagnosed as Epstein-Barr Virus, which is in the Herpes family. I got sick twice that semester, and twice more during my 3 week winter break. I slept through classes, during classes, and during studying. I slept through tests, lectures, and people acting. I slept a lot. And because of that, I got put on some serious probation at my college. So my parents decided I should go to a community college online. Whatever. But they also wanted me to go to a homeopathic doctor, Doctor Block. She said she’d not only make my Epstein-Barr go away, she’d make it so I could get off my ADHD/Bipolar meds. Great! We drew blood that day and I got an IV of magnesium and vitamin C that was supposed to make my Epstein-Barr go away. The next day, I noticed a rash on the inside of my legs. I didn’t think much of it, but it started spreading down my legs. A few days later I went in for another IV and it got worse. It was all over my legs and arms. We decided not to continue with the IV treatments as I was having an allergic reaction and they didn’t want me to go into anaphylactic shock. I got hives– painful, swelling, itchy hives. I haven’t thought much about it till today. I had forgotten the tests that she did. I had no idea this was going to happen or that I was going to be hit with such a brick as this. I don’t really know what to do. I really don’t.

Thanks if you read it. I’m pretty depressed right now so… yeah.
